Born in January 1973, Geoff Johns has built one of the most prolific careers in mainstream American comics, becoming one of DC Comics' defining writers of the early twenty-first century. A Michigan native born on January 25, 1973, he broke into the industry in the late 1990s and quickly established himself through work on JSA, Teen Titans, The Flash, and Green Lantern, accumulating credits on well over a thousand issues between 1999 and the mid-2020s.

Johns is perhaps best recognized for his sweeping expansion of the Green Lantern mythology, co-creating the Sinestro Corps, the Red Lantern Corps, the Black Lantern Corps, the Indigo Tribe, and characters including Larfleeze, Atrocitus, Jessica Cruz, and Simon Baz. Major storylines such as Sinestro Corps War, Blackest Night, and Infinite Crisis demonstrated his talent for large-scale, continuity-rich narratives. His Aquaman run produced Throne of Atlantis, while his Superman work yielded Last Son and Brainiac. Among his most personal co-creations is Courtney Whitmore, a character inspired by his late sister.

Beyond comics, Johns served as DC Entertainment's Chief Creative Officer and later President from 2010 to 2018, co-founded DC Films, and produced or wrote numerous entries in the DC Extended Universe. He also co-developed television series including The Flash, Titans, Doom Patrol, and Stargirl, the last of which further honored his sister's memory.
