Part two of "Rage of the Red Lanterns" arrives in this January 2009 issue, and the cover — penciled by Shane Davis and inked by Sandra Hope — makes an immediate impression: Hal Jordan surges upward in full emerald power, ring blazing, while the enormous, nightmarish visage of a Red Lantern looms behind him, its glowing eyes and jagged teeth framing the hero like a living trap. The contrast between Hal's cool green light and the creature's seething crimson menace sets the tone for what looks to be a genuinely tense chapter of Geoff Johns's ongoing cosmic saga.
