About this Collection

Collecting issues #192-200 of the 2004 Flash series, this volume features writer Geoff Johns and artist Scott Kolins' story arc 'Blitz,' which introduces the villain Zoom and explores the aftermath of the Flash's battle with the Rogues. The collection focuses on Wally West as the Flash, dealing with personal and super-powered threats that push him to his limits.

In "Character Bios," Geoff Johns and Scott Kolins deliver a poignant, high-stakes journey as the Flash confronts the mysterious Zoom, who forces him to relive pivotal moments from his past—each vision a gut punch that tests his resolve. With help from the other speedsters and a chilling theory from Jay Garrick, Wally finds a way to turn Zoom’s temporal manipulation against him, trapping the villain in a moment of his own making. The issue ends with a quiet, haunting moment as Wally is visited by two old friends, leaving his past—and his identity—forever changed.

As Zoom tries to teach Flash about loss, he also open visions of significant moments of the past, including one which upsets him so much he flees. While Wally has a moment, he confers with the other speedsters, and Jay theorizes that Zoom has not tapped into the speed force, but into time itself. Taking the speed force from all the other speedsters, Wally is able to meet Zoom on his level, and traps him in one of Zoom's windows on the past. Finally, as Wally takes stock of the recent events of his life, he is visited by two old friends, and all knowledge of his dual identity is wiped away.
