Adventure Comics #6 / 509
In "The Boy of Steel, Part Five," Superboy is thrust across time and space by Luthor to recover the cure for his sister Lena—only to face betrayal the moment she’s healed. With Luthor’s true intentions exposed and Brainiac intervening, Superboy is left reeling as the two villains vanish, leaving him to confront the aftermath. The issue ends with Luthor already turning his gaze toward his next scheme, somewhere in the depths of space. Written by Geoff Johns and illustrated with bold precision by Francis Manapul, with colors by Brian Buccellato and letters by Steve Wands, the cover by Francis Manapul captures the moment of tension with striking clarity.
