Teen Titans #10

A mysterious, bald figure in a striking red-and-purple costume dominates this "New Blood" chapter, looming over the scattered, dazed forms of Robin, Kid Flash, Superboy, and what appears to be Wonder Girl — all tumbling helplessly around him against a deep crimson backdrop. Mike McKone and Marlo Alquiza deliver a cover with real menace, the central figure's calm expression making the Titans' vulnerability all the more unsettling. Geoff Johns was reliably delivering big-stakes teen superhero drama in 2004, and issue #10 looks like no exception.
