Tom Strong #25
Tom Strong leads a group of young companions urgently forward on this cover, their expressions taut with concern as a looming shadowy figure with a bold yellow question mark dominates the cracked background — promising that the mystery of "the weirdest day in Millennium City" is something to reckon with. The cover by Chris Sprouse and Karl Story has a wonderfully pulpy energy, and the promise of guest appearances by the Strongmen of America makes this 2004 America's Best Comics issue feel like an adventure with real scope. With Geoff Johns writing and John Paul Leon's art brought to vivid life by Dave Stewart's colors, there's plenty of reason to seek this one out.
