Part of the 2013 "Rise of the Third Army" crossover, this issue of DC's New 52 Green Lantern delivers one of the most striking covers of the run — a figure's wrists bound in handcuffs behind their back, a glowing green ring barely visible at the fist, and Arabic script tattooed on the arm, suggesting the wearer is Sinestro Corps-era Hal Jordan's successor Simon Baz. Doug Mahnke's pencils and Christian Alamy's inks bring a raw, grounded intensity to the image, stripping away the cosmic spectacle in favor of something uncomfortably earthbound.
