Part of DC's 1999 "Justice Society Returns!" crossover event, this one-shot revives the vintage Star Spangled Comics banner with terrific retro flair — the blue-and-white star-filled masthead lovingly evokes the Golden Age. Dave Johnson's cover pairs a dynamic, airborne Sandman leveling his gas gun against the looming, close-cropped face of the Star Spangled Kid, with portrait medallions of both heroes framing the top of the cover. Geoff Johns and Chris Weston bring the story "...A Terrifying Hour!" to life, making this a fun stop on the JSA's grand return.
