Beneath a full moon and the tagline "The Legendary Super-Team Reborn!", this 2000 installment of DC's JSA plunges into "Darkness Falls" Part 2 of 3 with a cover by Alan Davis and Mark Farmer that puts the Sandman front and center — cape billowing, fists raised, and twin gas guns at the ready. Shadowy, reaching hands, crows, and ominous dark figures crowd the edges of the composition, giving the whole scene a genuinely unsettling, noir-drenched atmosphere. Written by David Goyer and Geoff Johns with interior art by Stephen Sadowski and Michael Bair, this is the kind of moody mid-arc issue that makes the JSA's revival feel like essential reading.
