The cover by Brian Bolland sets a striking scene: a silver-and-magenta-costumed Magenta levitates above the chaos, chains and metal debris swirling around her in a display of magnetic power, while a visibly strained Flash struggles below, bolts and hardware pressing in on him from all sides. The tagline "Murder, Magnetism and Magenta!" makes no bones about the tension at the heart of this 2001 arc opener, "Blood Will Run, Part 1: Breaking the Foundation." With Geoff Johns, Scott Kolins, and Doug Hazlewood bringing the interior to life, this feels like a genuinely compelling start to what promises to be a charged confrontation between the Scarlet Speedster and one of his more formidable adversaries.
