Hawkman #12
Andrew Robinson's moody cover for this April 2003 issue sets an immediately intense tone — Hawkman looms in close-up, his winged helmet and glowing eyes casting a fierce, shadowed presence as his powerful arms grip what appears to be another figure, the red hawk emblem on a medallion catching the warm, dramatic light. Geoff Johns, Rags Morales, and Dennis Janke bring "The Darkraven" to life inside, and the cover promises the kind of brooding, hard-edged Hawkman storytelling that made this 2003 run so compelling. A strong chapter from a series that took DC's winged warrior seriously.
