“Chapter One”

"Chapter One" kicks off Supernatural: Origins #1 with a raw, intimate look at Dean and Sam’s early bond, set in a world where danger lingers just beneath the surface. Written by Geoff Johns and illustrated with gritty precision by Phil Hester, the story captures a pivotal moment when Dean shields Sam from the truth about their mother—lying about her death, driving him to safety, and making a quiet, solemn promise that shapes their future. The haunting atmosphere is heightened by Tim Bradstreet’s striking cover, which mirrors the weight of secrets carried in silence.

A short story that shows how Dean helped raise Sam. In this case, he deflects questions about how their mother died (he lies and says that she was in an accident) and has to drive Sam to somewhere safe when someone attacks their father. While they are hiding Dean tries to make Sam promise to never ask about their mother again and to answer no if their father asks him if he wants to know about her. He says he is going to do this (presumably hunt the evil) but Sam doesn't have to. He says he will teach Sam to swim if he'll promise this.
