Green Lantern #25 serves as the grand finale of the Sinestro Corps War and simultaneously the launch pad for everything that followed in Geoff Johns's Green Lantern era. Writer Geoff Johns and artists Ivan Reis and Ethan Van Sciver crafted the issue as the climactic eleventh chapter of the Sinestro Corps War, an arc that Johns built directly on a thematic foundation laid by Alan Moore's 1986 Tales of the Green Lantern Corps stories — particularly the prophecy of a 'blackest night.' The conclusion was delayed by two weeks during production, and the Green Lantern Corps tie-in issue (#19) was actually redrawn mid-run in response to fan reaction to the Sodam Yat versus Superboy-Prime sequence. Editors Eddie Berganza and Adam Schlagman oversaw the project, and the collected editions later included a 'Sinestro Corps War Journal' — a roundtable conversation between Johns, Van Sciver, Dave Gibbons, Patrick Gleason, Peter Tomasi, and the editorial team — along with design and production art, giving readers an unusually transparent look behind the curtain of a major event.
