Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how ComicBooks.com LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, discloses, and protects information in connection with the websites, applications, and services available at or through ComicBooks.com (the "Service"). The short version remains true: we collect the minimum we need to run the Service, we do not sell your personal information, and we do not run third-party advertising trackers. Last updated July 29, 2026.
1. Information We Collect
- Information you provide. Account registration data (email address, username, password — stored as a salted hash we cannot read); profile information you choose to add; collections, listings, reviews, messages, and other content you submit; purchase and sale information (order history, shipping address where applicable); information you send when you contact us, request an offer on a collection, or report a problem.
- Information collected automatically. Standard server and security logs (IP address, user-agent, request URLs, timestamps, referrer); device and browser type; approximate (city-level) location inferred from IP for security and analytics; usage events such as pages viewed, searches, reading progress, and feature interactions. We use privacy-respecting, first-party, self-hosted analytics; we do not deploy third-party advertising or cross-site tracking technologies.
- Information from third parties. If you buy something, our payment processor (currently Stripe) provides us transaction confirmations and limited billing metadata — full card numbers go directly to the processor and never touch our systems. If you sign in via a third-party identity provider, we receive the identifiers needed to authenticate you.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to: provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service; create and secure your account; process transactions and deliver what you bought; respond to your requests and communicate with you about the Service; personalize features such as reading progress and collection tools; monitor, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, unauthorized access (including scraping), and violations of our Terms of Use; comply with legal obligations; establish, exercise, or defend legal claims; and produce aggregated or de-identified analytics that do not identify you. We send transactional and service emails; we send marketing email only if you asked for it, and every marketing message includes an unsubscribe.
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising. We disclose information only: (a) to service providers who process it on our behalf and under contract — hosting and infrastructure, payment processing, email delivery, customer support tooling — limited to what they need to perform their services; (b) in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, in which case the successor remains bound by commitments materially consistent with this Policy; (c) when required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, enforce our Terms, or protect the safety, property, or rights of users or the public; and (d) at your direction, such as content you choose to make public (listings, reviews, public profile elements are visible to others by design).
4. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use first-party cookies and similar technologies strictly for authentication, session management, security (including bot mitigation), and remembering your preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. Most browsers let you refuse cookies; the Service's signed-in features require them. Because we do not track you across other websites, we do not respond differently to "Do Not Track" signals — there is nothing to turn off.
5. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and afterward as necessary to comply with legal obligations (for example, transaction and tax records), resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and maintain security logs and backups for a limited period, after which it is deleted or de-identified. Content you delete may persist briefly in routine encrypted backups before aging out.
6. Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the nature of the data — including encryption in transit, hashed credentials, scoped access controls, and network-level protections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security, and you are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential. If we learn of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and regulators as required by applicable law.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under applicable privacy laws (including state laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended, and the privacy acts of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, and other states) to: request access to, or a portable copy of, the personal information we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate information; request deletion; and not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising your rights. We honor these requests for all users regardless of residence. Because we do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is nothing to opt out of on that front, and we do not process personal information for targeted advertising or profiling that produces legal effects.
To exercise any right, email [email protected] from the address associated with your account (or provide equivalent verification). We will verify and respond within the time required by applicable law. An authorized agent may submit a request with proof of authorization. If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision, and you may also contact your state attorney general.
8. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.
9. International Users
The Service is operated from the United States, and information is processed and stored on servers in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where data-protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the current version. Material changes will be announced on the Service or by email where practicable, and your continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
