Dave McCaig

Dave McCaig was born on December 6, 1971, in Thunder Bay, Ontario, and has built a career spanning both comic book coloring and animation work. A Canadian artist by trade, he has contributed to an impressive range of titles since the late 1990s, with credits running across nearly three decades of active work.

Among his most prominent comics assignments are *Superman: Birthright*, *American Vampire*, *Northlanders*, *X-Men*, *New Avengers*, *Star Wars*, *Nextwave*, and *The Matrix Comics*, reflecting a versatility that moves comfortably between superhero fare, horror, and science fiction. His coloring tends to serve the narrative mood of each project rather than imposing a single recognizable look, which has made him a reliable collaborator across genres and publishers.

Beyond the page, McCaig brought his color sensibility to animation, contributing key color design across the first three seasons of *The Batman* (2004) at Warner Bros., as well as work on the fourth *Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles* film. He has also fostered community within the craft by running Gutterzombie.com, a forum dedicated to comic book colorists and artists.
