Buffy the Vampire Slayer #34
In "Out of the Fire, into the Hive," Riley stirs from his coma just in time to help stop Spike from stealing the magic stone tied to the giant insects' infestation device. As the hive queen speaks through Dr. Whitcomb’s body, revealing the insects’ plan to conquer the surface world, Buffy, Riley, and Spike race to the lair to save the gang. With the stone’s power and Giles’ decisive action, the group confronts the threat head-on—only to return to Giles’ house to find Rebecca unharmed. Written by Tom Fassbender and Jim Pascoe, illustrated by Cliff Richards with inks by Joe Pimentel, colors by Dave McCaig, and letters by Clem Robins, the cover by Cliff Richards and Andy Owens captures the tension of the hive’s looming danger.
