Buffy is dealing with the knowledge that her sister Dawn is a mystical key who was recently sent to her by supernatural forces who gave everyone false memories of Dawn's childhood. Meanwhile, a Japanese vampire decides to go to Sunnydale and kill the slayer. When Buffy gets angry at Dawn for following her out on patrol, Dawn reminds her that she helped Xander save her life when she was bitten by the Master. Dawn also tells her that she found evidence that two hundred years ago there no slayer. Buffy leaves to go out on patrol and when she returns home she finds that her sister is missing.
