Lucifer #17

Part of DC's Sandman Universe Black Label line, this 2020 issue finds Lucifer — red-haired, antlered, and imperious — looming protectively (or perhaps ominously) over a bespectacled young companion against a swirling violet sky, while spectral horses and shadowy riders surge through the lower half of the cover in what the story title calls a Wild Hunt. Tiffany Turrill's painted cover art balances an intimate two-figure portrait with that churning supernatural stampede beautifully, giving the whole thing a dreamlike, mythic weight. With Dan Watters writing and Sebastián Fiumara illustrating, this series continues to explore the darker, stranger corners of the Sandman Universe with real style.
