American Vampire #6
Rafael Albuquerque's cover for issue #6 sets a moody, sun-drenched scene: a snarling, fanged figure in a wide-brimmed hat looms in the foreground against a blazing orange sky, while a woman in a red dress walks the neon-lit strip of a casino district behind him. Scott Snyder and Albuquerque kick off "Devil in the Sand Part One" here, transplanting their vampire mythology to what looks unmistakably like mid-century Las Vegas — a city built on risk, excess, and things that come out after dark. It's a genuinely compelling setup, published by Vertigo in October 2010 with Dave McCaig's fiery colors giving the whole image a smoldering, dangerous atmosphere.
