Part three of the "Darkness" arc delivers one of the more unsettling covers in Dark Horse's Star Wars line from 2001 — Jon Foster's painted art depicts a dark-haired human fighter clutching a green lightsaber while a red-skinned humanoid looms behind them, and an eerie, pale, open-mouthed creature rears up above them both in a swirl of murky sky. The composition feels genuinely tense, with three very different figures locked in close, dangerous proximity. John Ostrander and Jan Duursema's series continues to push the galaxy far, far away into grimmer territory, and this penultimate chapter looks every bit as foreboding as the title promises.
