Deadman #6
High above a sprawling nighttime city, Boston Brand — Deadman in his scarlet costume and ghostly white face — sweeps a blonde woman into his arms for a kiss, the two of them suspended in a vertiginous aerial embrace while a shadowy silhouette watches from below. It's a hauntingly romantic image, with the "Love & Death" subtitle perfectly capturing the bittersweet tension at the heart of this character. José Luis García-López's cover art for this July 2002 issue is elegant and dynamic, bringing genuine emotional weight to a ghost story that clearly has as much heart as it does supernatural drama.
