Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E. #3

Warren Ellis and Stuart Immonen's wildly inventive series hits its third issue with a cover that splits its personality right down the middle — a smirking, red-washed woman lounges across the top half with a knowing grin, while below her a row of identical figures brandishing bullseye-emblazoned shields march through a burst of chaotic street-level action. The pop-art repetition of those shield-bearing figures gives the whole image a wonderfully unsettling, almost satirical energy that fits Nextwave perfectly. If you've been following H.A.T.E.'s most troublesome operatives, this issue's cover promises more of the series' sharp, stylish sense of fun.
