It presents a focused look at the twisted legacy and time-breaking vendetta that defines Thawne's obsession with the Flash, pulling together pivotal moments from his comic-book history.
In "Menace of the Reverse-Flash!", Barry Allen races to the 25th century to rescue Iris after Thawne abducts her, only to find the future altered in ways he never expected. Flashbacks reveal the twisted origins of Thawne’s obsession—once a man who admired the Flash so deeply he endangered lives to prove himself, now driven by a warped desire to punish Barry by targeting those he loves. Written by Joshua Williamson and illustrated by Carmine Di Giandomenico, Neil Googe, and Ryan Sook, with colors by Ivan Plascencia, Hi-Fi, and Dave McCaig, and letters by Steve Wands, the issue’s cover by Francesco Mattina captures the tension of a hero facing his most personal nightmare.

Thawne kidnaps Iris and brings her to the 25th century. Barry pursues and finds that the 25th century has changed from when he first met Thawne there years ago. Flashbacks recall the first meeting between Barry and Thawne, when Thawne idolized Flash and wanted to be a hero so much that he endangered innocents so that he could save them, until he was stopped by Barry. Thawne realizes that history has changed for himself, Barry, and Iris, and that things are not as he remembered them originally happening, but he still wants to punish Barry by hurting those closest to him.
