Brian Wood's Viking saga rolls into its fourth chapter with a cover by Massimo Carnevale that immediately commands attention — a close-up of Sven's grimacing, battle-hardened face dominates the foreground while a dark rider on a rearing red horse charges across the composition, blades cutting through the chaos. The stark contrast of deep blacks, bruised blues, and flashes of crimson gives the whole image a cold, urgent energy perfectly suited to the "Chill Eastern Wind" story within. Vertigo's Northlanders was already proving itself one of 2008's most distinctive titles, and this installment looks every bit as uncompromising as the series promised.
