Lucifer #1

Part of DC's Sandman Universe line, this 2018 Vertigo series relaunches with a cover by Jock that immediately sets a haunting, irreverent tone: a bearded, horned Lucifer stares out from a wash of deep crimson, holding a cardboard sign that reads "WILL SIN FOR FOOD." It's a portrait that manages to be darkly funny and genuinely unsettling at the same time. Writer Dan Watters and artists Max and Sebastián Fiumara, with colors by Dave McCaig, look poised to take the Morningstar somewhere compellingly unexpected.
