Batgirl #5
Part five of "Beyond Burnside" arrives with a striking Rafael Albuquerque cover that pulls the eye in three directions at once: Batgirl herself dominates the foreground in her red-and-purple costume, while a white-haired woman bearing intricate tattoos across her arm takes center stage, and a shadowy trio of figures looms ominously in the background. The bold red-and-black palette, rendered with depth by colorist Dave McCaig, gives the whole composition a tense, atmospheric energy that feels right at home in the DC Universe Rebirth era. Hope Larson's "Beyond Burnside" arc has been taking Barbara Gordon far outside her comfort zone, and this fifth chapter looks poised to deliver on that promise.
