Part of DC's Sandman Universe line, this 2019 Vertigo entry — "Meditations on Nothing at All" — carries a hauntingly beautiful cover by Tiffany Turrill: a skeletal, dark-robed figure stands in a small boat on churning waters, arms outstretched toward a vast, fiery face that blazes across the sky, while ravens scatter through the flames and a hunched second figure rows at the stern. The image has a mythic, painterly weight that feels perfectly matched to a series that has always dwelt in grand, cosmic territories. With Dan Watters writing and Sebastian Fiumara, Leomacs, and Dave McCaig bringing the interior pages to life, this is Sandman Universe storytelling at its most atmospheric.
