Scott Snyder and Rafael Albuquerque's American Vampire: Second Cycle continues with this unsettling 2014 Vertigo issue, whose cover — painted by Albuquerque — shows a pale, dark-haired vampire woman clutching a smaller, seemingly terrified figure atop a hill absolutely swarming with monstrous, eyeless creature-faces rising from the earth below. A cold moon glows behind them, casting just enough light to make the sheer scale of the surrounding horde feel genuinely overwhelming.
