“Slayer, Interrupted Act 3”

Buffy dressed as Alice in Wonderland — blue dress, white apron, hairband, and a cupcake tagged "Eat Me" — makes for one of the more disarming cover images in Dark Horse's long run with the Slayer. Looming behind her is a snarling, spider-limbed demon that gives the whimsical fairy-tale setup a genuinely unsettling edge, with cover pencils by Paul Lee and inks by Brian Horton combining to striking effect. Part three of "Slayer, Interrupted" from writers Scott Lobdell and Fabian Nicieza and artist Cliff Richards promises a story as surreal and creepy as this arresting image suggests.
