George Gladir
George Gladir was an American comics writer born on September 27, 1925, who spent the bulk of his career as a prolific scripter for Archie Comics. He died on April 3, 2013.
Gladir is perhaps best remembered as the co-creator of Sabrina Spellman, the teenage witch who would go on to anchor multiple comic series and television adaptations. He developed the character alongside artist Dan DeCarlo, one of the defining artistic voices at Archie Comics during the Silver Age.
Over a career spanning more than six decades in the catalog record, Gladir racked up credits across well over a thousand issues, working as writer, artist, and inker at various points. His most frequent assignments centered on the core Archie lineup — titles including *Archie*, *Jughead*, *Betty*, *Betty and Me*, *Archie's Pals 'n' Gals*, and the long-running *Archie Giant Series Magazine*. That sustained presence across so many interconnected titles made him one of the quiet workhorses of the Riverdale universe, a writer who understood the rhythms of ensemble humor and the light comedic tone that kept those books reliably entertaining for young readers across generations.
