Jughead #264

Jughead has apparently traded his beanie for a magician's hat in this cheerful 1977 entry, as the cover — penciled by Dan DeCarlo and inked by Jim DeCarlo — shows "The Great Juggo" presiding over a magic-themed table while a flustered waiter balances a tray of food that seems to have met an untimely fate. Archie bursts through the door wide-eyed, asking whether Juggo has made anything disappear yet, and the punchline is already written: "Only all the food I prepared!" It's a perfectly timed gag that captures everything lovable about Jughead — give him a magic act and he'll still somehow make it all about eating.
