“The Boat Ride”

Jughead #172 brings a sunny slice of Riverdale summer straight to your hands, with Dan DeCarlo's cover pencils capturing a perfectly timed moment of ice-cream-truck drama. Jughead leans out of the "Jolly Good Ice Cream" truck's service window to scold a hapless customer with "Yes, I DO mind you doing a little browsing!" — while Betty, Veronica, and Archie look on nearby, treats already in hand. It's the kind of breezy, laugh-out-loud gag that made this series a staple of 1969 spinner racks, and George Gladir's writing paired with Bill Vigoda's art promises more of that warm Archie charm inside.
