“The Big Chase”

In "The Big Chase," Archie and the gang bring last year’s Sadie Hawkins race to life at a ski chalet, turning a nostalgic video into a full-blown winter sprint. With the boys getting a head start, chaos unfolds as Jughead’s slick vinyl suit slips through Ethel’s grasp, Archie dodges Betty and Veronica by hijacking a snowmobile driven by Midge—whose dance skills are her main motivation—while Jughead’s real goal is the buffet, and Archie’s latest escape is from Moose. Written by George Gladir and illustrated by Stan Goldberg, with inks by Rudy Lapick, colors by Barry Grossman, and letters by Bill Yoshida, this 1987 gem features a cover by Dan DeCarlo.

Archie and the gang are in a ski chalet watching a video of last year's Sadie Hawkins race. They decide to run the race again. The boys get a head start. Jughead has worn a slick vinyl suit so when Ethel goes to grab him she misses and gets their ski instructor instead. Archie evades both Betty and Veronica by jumping on the back of a snowmobile. The driver is Midge, who wants to take Archie because he can dance and Moose can't. At the dance Jughead sees a fantastic buffet but can't get in without a date. But he's not as bad off as Archie who's on the run again, this time from Moose.
