“Mumps the Word”

In "Mumps the Word," Archie’s desperate bid to impress Veronica with a fancy date takes a wild turn when he rents out his car for ad space—only to find out she views such antics as beneath her. When paparazzi catch the pickle ad in a compromising moment, the resulting photos spark an unexpected modeling opportunity for Veronica, turning embarrassment into a win. Written by George Gladir and brought to life with vibrant art by Stan Goldberg, inks by Bob Smith, and colors by Barry Grossman, this 2001 classic captures the charm and chaos of teenage romance with a side of pickle-powered humor. The cover, also by Goldberg and Smith, perfectly encapsulates the zany spirit of the issue.

Archie sells ad space on his car in order to get money for a date with Veronica, but learns that she thinks such arrangements are low-class. He tries to maneuver things so that she doesn't notice the pickle ad, but paparazzi spot her and run the embarrassing pictures. Since that leads to a modeling offer from the pickle company, she's happy with Archie anyway.
