Jan 1964 · Archie · 0.25 USD
“Pogo Happy”

In "Pogo Happy," Archie stumbles into a bizarre new craze—frying marbles to make sparkly jewelry—only to accidentally trade a box of Mr. Lodge’s special vitamin balls meant for his polo pony. Written by George Gladir and illustrated by Bill Vigoda, this 1964 Annual captures the classic charm of Riverdale’s antics with a twist that’s equal parts silly and clever. The cover by Samm Schwartz perfectly captures the zany energy of the moment.

The newest fad is frying marbles. They are heated on the stove, then dumped into cold water which makes them cracked and sparkly and suitable for making jewelry. When Archie runs out of marbles, he manages to mistake a box of special vitamin balls made for Mr. Lodge's polo pony as a box of marbles.
