“The Rivalry”

Betty and Me #174 brings a breezy dose of Riverdale humor to this 1989 Archie Series issue, with cover art by Dan and Jim DeCarlo placing Betty and Archie at a surf-themed restaurant where a massive wave mural and a pink surfboard set the scene. Archie, clutching the bill in wide-eyed shock, gets a knowing quip from their waitress — "even the checks wipe you out!" — while Betty looks on with amusement. It's a charming, light-hearted snapshot of the gang's everyday misadventures, rounded out by a sidebar promising that "The New Archies" TV show is back on the air.
