Archie & Friends #1
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeArchie & Friends #1 launched what would become one of the publisher's longest-running modern-era anthology titles, establishing a dedicated platform for the full Riverdale ensemble outside of any single character's spotlight book. Where most Archie titles of the era rotated through a handful of short gag strips, this series was structured around extended, themed adventure stories — the debut being a multi-park National Parks road trip — giving the supporting cast (Moose, Midge, Chuck, Nancy, Dilton, Ethel) meaningful page time alongside Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead. The series ran continuously from 1992 to 2012 and reached 159 numbered issues, making it one of the most durable ensemble titles in the publisher's modern history. Its longevity demonstrated that readers would sustain a series built around group-adventure storytelling rather than the classic Archie gag formula.

The series debuted with a cover date of 1992 from Archie Publications and was produced by a creative team drawn from Archie's stable of house artists and writers. The interior story was scripted by veteran Archie writer George Gladir, penciled by Stan Goldberg (credited in the indicia as 'Stan G.'), and inked by Henry Scarpelli, with colors by Barry Grossman and lettering by Bill Yoshida — essentially the same core production unit that handled flagship Archie titles throughout that period. The cover was separately penciled by Goldberg and inked by Rod Ollerenshaw. Both a Direct Edition and a Newsstand Edition were released simultaneously, reflecting the still-active dual-channel distribution of the early 1990s.
