Archie's Madhouse #62
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis 1968 Archie Series gem captures the free-wheeling spirit of the era with a wonderfully absurd scene: a uniformed guard frantically blocks two groovily dressed teens — a girl in a pink mini-dress and a mod guy in a green jacket — from getting anywhere near the Liberty Bell, while a large ape lurks mischievously in the background. The guard's exasperated declaration, "No! Your big ape friend CANNOT have this bell!", sets the perfectly zany tone that Archie's Madhouse fans came to love, all wrapped in a vibrant psychedelic border courtesy of cover artist Gus Lemoine. At just 12 cents, this was peak late-'60s fun from Archie Comics.
