“Hazardous Haven”

Jughead has taken goalie "protection" to an absurd extreme on this 1981 cover, surrounding his hockey net with barbed wire and a "Danger — Keep Out" sign while a bewildered Archie looks on in his Riverdale uniform. Coach Kleats and a crowd of stunned onlookers react from the stands as Jughead defends his fortress with completely straight-faced logic. It's a wonderfully silly setup that captures everything fans love about Jughead's particular brand of self-interested ingenuity.
