Thunderbolts #19 (1998)
Busiek built his reputation on stories that examine the superhero genre from fresh angles rather than simply delivering action spectacle. His breakout moment came with Marvels, a limited series that reframed Marvel Universe history through the eyes of an ordinary photojournalist, offering an emotionally grounded perspective on events readers had seen only from heroes' viewpoints.
