The cover says it all: Pagan, Triathlon, and Lord Templar are locked in a three-way clash, and a scramble of wide-eyed Avengers — caught squarely in the middle — tumbles through the chaos in George Pérez's wonderfully kinetic artwork. That character-packed composition, with a winged armored figure arcing overhead and heroes piling into the frame from every angle, captures exactly the kind of sprawling, anything-can-happen energy that made this Busiek-and-Pérez run so satisfying in 1999. "The Three-Fold Path" promises a collision of competing agendas that leaves Earth's Mightiest Heroes with nowhere comfortable to stand.
