A red-haired being is awakened in a post-apocalyptic laboratory and receives the name Redhand. Redhand cannot remember his past but because the magic of the gods does not affect him they fear him. Redhand eventually decides he has to combat the planet's gods himself in order to learn his identity. Finally raising an army, he learns the "gods" are artificial intelligences controlled by the preserved minds of Earth's pre-apocalypse rulers. Redhand is the clone of the last US President and gives the President's preserved mind the opportunity he needs to strike down his fellow "gods."
