“Insect Queen Part Two: Gossamer Wings”

In "Insect Queen Part Two: Gossamer Wings," Superman races to the moon to confront a hive built in secret beneath a derelict LexCorp base, while Lana struggles to survive its grasp. With the Insect Queen revealing her true intentions, Superman is overpowered and subjected to a chilling extraction, and back on Earth, Chris Kent’s condition spirals as the red-sun watch’s power erupts in a sudden, violent surge. Written by Kurt Busiek and illustrated by Peter Vale, with inks by Wellington Dias, colors by Kanila Tripp, and letters by Comicraft, this issue’s cover by Peter Vale captures the eerie, insect-laced tension of a threat that’s both alien and deeply personal.

The new Insect Queen tells Lana about who she is, and what her hive is going to do. Superman goes to the moon, and finds a hive built there. Lana manages to escape, and finds herself in an old LexCorp lunar base, that the hive is built on top of. She meets up with some workers from the moon base, who are hiding from the hive. Superman is attacked by powerful insects, who overpower him and take him to the Insect Queen. She "stings" him to extract his genes. Chris Kent has a fever, and is watched by a babysitter, but Lois comes home to find him feeling worse. He shows her that his arm that has the red-sun watch is badly swollen, so she takes off the watch, and Chris goes critical with energy, which he explosively releases, blowing out part of the building.
