“New Kid in Town”

In "New Kid in Town," Kurt Busiek and Brent E. Anderson introduce Brian Kinney, a fresh face in Astro City who starts at the rough-and-tumble bar Bruiser's before landing a job at the more upscale Butler's. When the chaotic Glue-Gun crashes through the skylight and takes Brian hostage, the young man’s quick thinking earns him more than just a scolding — it catches the eye of the Confessor. Alex Ross’s striking cover captures the moment’s intensity, while the story unfolds with quiet confidence, blending urban grit and unexpected heroism.

Brian Kinney arrives in Astro City and finds a job at Bruiser's, a bar "costumes" frequent. The owner, seeing something more in Brian, helps him get a job at a classier place, Butler's. When Glue-Gun crashes through the skylight there and tries to make Brian a hostage, Brian knocks him out, drawing the ire of his fellow busboys, but also the attention of the Confessor.
