Part two of Kurt Busiek and George Pérez's "Heroes Return" run delivers a cover that practically bursts at the seams — a massive, densely packed assemblage of Marvel heroes charges forward through a forest setting, with Captain America front and center, shield raised and ready. Thor strides alongside him hammer aloft, Iron Man gleams nearby, and the crowd stretches deep into the background with She-Hulk, Hawkeye, and dozens more recognizable figures filling every corner of Pérez's intricately detailed composition. If this single image doesn't make the case for the Avengers as Marvel's mightiest assembly, very little will.
