Aquaman: Sword of Atlantis #49
Towering over the deep in this April 2007 installment of Aquaman: Sword of Atlantis, a massive, craggy stone face dominates the cover — the ominous "Gate of Shadows" itself — while a glowing, rune-etched sword bisects the image and three figures tumble or brace against its surface far below. The contrast between that vast, ancient visage and the small, vulnerable heroes clinging near it gives Butch Guice's cover a genuinely unsettling sense of scale. With Kurt Busiek writing and Mike Manley and Ricardo Villagrán on interior art, "Gate of Shadow Part Two: Dreams of the Fisherman" promises a moody, mythology-rich dive into Atlantis's darker corners.
