DC's weekly Trinity series reaches its 39th chapter with a cover by Jesús Merino that frames Superman in near-devotional terms — fist raised skyward, cape billowing, he emerges from a stained-glass archway adorned with the Superman emblem while candles flicker in smoky darkness all around him. The overlapping logos of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman crown the image, a reminder that this epic story belongs to all three pillars of the DC universe. Writer Kurt Busiek and artist Mark Bagley keep the momentum going in this February 2009 installment, titled "Metropolis," promising that the heart of the Man of Steel's city beats at the center of the action.
