Astro City #9
This collection gathers issues from the 2014 Astro City series, focusing on the 'Through Open Doors' story arc that explores the lives of ordinary people and superheroes in the extraordinary city. Written by Kurt Busiek with art by various contributors, it continues the tradition of character-driven narratives that examine the human side of superhuman existence.
In "Through Open Doors, Part One," a mysterious set of colossal doors appears over Astro City, summoning Telseth, an alien plenipotentiary seeking an Earth aide. With his life at a quiet crossroads, Ben Pullam steps forward, drawn by the chance to find new purpose. Meanwhile, the Broken Man breaks the fourth wall in a haunting frame story, quietly urging the reader to consider his own agenda. Written by Kurt Busiek and illustrated by Brent Eric Anderson, with colors by Alex Sinclair and letters by JG Roshell and Jimmy Betancourt, this issue features a striking cover by Alex Ross.
