E.A.G.L.E. and superheroes respond to a huge set of doors that materialize over Astro City. Telseth, emerging from the doors, announces that he is an alien plenipotentiary, and asks for an Earth person as an aide. Ben Pullam, whose girls are grown and whose life now holds few challenges, volunteers. In a frame story, the Broken Man tries to enlist the reader for his own purposes.
