Astro City #30

Alex Ross's cover for this February 2016 Vertigo issue pulls you straight into an urban catastrophe, with a massive stone-like creature erupting through city buildings, unleashing a blinding beam of energy while heroes converge from every angle — a caped figure surfing the chaos at upper right, a flying vehicle with a pilot at mid-left, and two characters in the foreground caught in the creature's destructive wake. "Enemy of the Empire" is the story promised inside, and Kurt Busiek and Brent Anderson are on hand to deliver it. Astro City's signature blend of superhero spectacle and human-scale storytelling looks to be in full force with issue #30.
