November 1998 brought this charged installment of Kurt Busiek and Mark Bagley's Thunderbolts, subtitled "Marvel's Most Wanted," and the cover — inked by Scott Hanna — wastes no time conveying the tension. Five costumed figures collide in a swirl of kinetic energy: a winged, red-and-yellow flier dominates the center, flanked by a long-haired brawler in red, a dark-suited figure crackling with yellow lightning bolts, a glowing energy-blaster in pink and purple, and a snarling grey-caped powerhouse at the bottom who looks ready to tear the whole image apart. "Decisions, Part 1: Turning Point" promises exactly the kind of combustible team drama that made this Busiek-Bagley run one of Marvel's most compelling team books of the era.
